The PSP Save Cheat

I don't know how many out there of you know about the PSP Game Save Cheat, and that you can use it with Official Firmware. Depending on the game all you need to do is swap out everything that is in the Save folder for that game and swap it out for ones you find on gamefaqs and other sites. That give you everything like access to all the levels, vehicles, whatever. As far as I know there is no one cheat device that will work on all PSP games. But this trick will work on most titles and all you really need is a USB cable for your PSP and that's it.

No Nonsense Review: Hot Shot Golf Open Tee & 2 PSP

When a lot of us think GOLF Game we think boring. Admit it, you know I am telling the truth. Or ones labeled Tiger Woods (which I will review soon) with such an overcomplicated control scheme that makes the game almost unplayable.

But not Hot Shot Golf Open Tee & it's sequel 2.  Once you use the name cheat 5TNEPO , which I recommend if you want everything from the start. You can literally make your character look like anything you want. You get even more options in 2, where you get access to 2 animal heads, and can make them look my furries if you want.

The courses are a challenge and are worth repeated play, and naturally, you also get mirror courses. That ups the challenge. To be honest, here I have own this game for a couple of years and found it has a very high replay value. I wish I could say the same about the PS1 version (but more on that later).

Hang all the complicated stuff, like choosing the right club, the wind, and whole blah blah. I just use whatever club the game gives me and hit the bloody ball. Controls are super simple, you hit the 'X' button to swing the club, and the Square button to use one of the limited numbers of power swings you have available. I found the real problem sometimes is getting your ball to land on the green. But it really doesn't affect gameplay. Also on some course in both games. It isn't always the straightest line to the Tee, is always the best way to get your ball in the hole. You really have to thank some of these courses out. A few I really didn't sink the ball until I had the game for over a year.

To be honest both games really aren't that expensive. They can be had for less than $6 for 2 and as little as $3 for the first. You want a challenging game with no bosses really I mean it, give it a try.

How to use you PSP as a remote control

All you is a PSP model 1000 with custom firmware installed and an app called IRshell iR Shell is a multi-purpose shell application for PSP. Serving as a pseudo XMB replacement, it allows users to transfers files to their PSP via ad-hoc connection as well as listen to MP3 files while playing a UMD title. Version 4.9 features support for disabling MagicGate protection and running PSN title

Using iR Shell 5.0 you can use your PSP-1000 (phat) as a remote control. This will only work with a phat PSP because the other PSP's do not have an iR port. If you are having trouble getting iR Shell installed then check out this guide written by bestyugiman. Alright, let's get started.

You can download a package of remote control codes from the irshell website here. However my remote control wasn't in that package so I had to do something else. iR Shell has the ability to learn new iR codes. It's almost as simple as pointing your remote at the PSP and pressing a button. That is what my guide will be covering.

When you start up iR Shell you need to pick the 5th option on the top row to enter the iR Remote View. I put an orange circle on it just in case you get lost.


You are now at this screen:


Press Start and you will see a menu. Press O to create a new entry.


You will then be prompted to enter a name for it. If you've never used iR Shell to name something then it might take you a a minute or two to get use to it. You press the analog stick toward the group of letter you want to use then you press the button that corresponds to the letter you want. For example: push the analog stick up and to the left and press square for A, X for B, and O for C. You'll get the hang of it soon enough.


Once you do that you will be presented with a screen with nothing on it:


Press the button on your PSP that you wish to use for a button on your remote. We can't map all of the remote control's buttons to the PSP because the PSP doesn't actually have enough buttons but we can get the most important ones.
I want to make X the power button for my TV. So I am going to press X on the PSP. That gave me this screen (my PSP wouldn't take a screenshot here so I used my camera):


At this point you just point your remote control at the PSP's iR port and hold down the button on your remote until you get the screen to name the button on the PSP.

As you can see from that image the iR port on the PSP is between the L button and the USB port on the top of the PSP. You have to program each button one at a time. The analog stick, dpad, /\, O, X, and [] can be used. The Left and Right shoulder buttons can be used as modifiers. Meaning you can have a remote control button mapped to R+O, L+O, and O. This will give you about 30 possible button combos if you use the L and R buttons.

Press Select to exit. When you press select you will want to press O to Save & Exit. When you want to use the remote just go back to this screen:



Press X on the one you want to use and you're ready to go.

You should also be able to create a 'universal' remote with this guide. Since your PSP has to 'learn' the ir code for each button then you could switch remotes and it would probably still think it was all coming from one remote. This would allow you to control your DVD player, VCR, stereo, satellite receiver, TV, and whatever else you have a remote for, all from one device.

After finally  beating this game on the PSP I felt it was time to do a revised review.

First up, about my previous issues, EXAMINE EVERYTHING especially in chapter 2. It seems to be the trickiest level.

As for the game, FOR FANS ONLY yes I know this game is not for everyone.  I think if your not a fan you will hate the game. Reason I believe it's so cheap. Although it plays a  lot like Ace Attorney.

No Nonsense Review: Sonic the Hedgehog Then vs. Now

As you might of guess it's a tiny retrospective on the Sonic game. Limited to those I have played or seen vids on You Tube. Sonic back in the 1990s really meant a great game. I know I am getting sentimental here, but those Sonic games everyone talks about 1,2 3 and yes Sonic and Knuckles are all great games. Solid gameplay, great story and hell even the music as dated as it is...I love the music too and have fond memories of repeatedly playing the game. Not that all Sonic games on the Sega Genesis were all that good though. Sonic Spinball is nothing but a lousy Sonic themed pinball game. Then there is Sonic 3D Blast, which is down right horrible. I knew that even way back then, Sega thought that could shovel any crap with the name Sonic on it and knew people would flock to the stores and buy it.

Mind you this was all before that terrible Sonic 2006 game, which brought a new word in the Sonic lexicon, Bestiality. Look at the vids and you see I am right, what were they thinking a hedgehog and a human woman. People are just going to think that.

Before this the world saw Sonic CD, on the ill fated Sega CD. I played it on an emulator. Pretty good game. Then there are the Sonic Adventure games. After that Sega lost focus.

Has anyone here ever played Sonic Rush PSP. or The Sonic Advance games on the GBA. They make Sonic 3D Blast seem like a good game.

No Nonsense Review: Ms Pacman Maze Madness PS1

Ms Pacman Maze Madness PS1, is without a doubt a very easy game, but it's also tricky and challenging. So you may ask yourself how is this possible. If your any fan of the original Pacman, you know collecting your 1600 by eating all 4 ghosts and collecting as much fruit as possible...was the main point to playing, with Ms Pacman Maze Madness PS1, it's that and more. Oh sure there is a puzzle element to the game, as each levels have multiple puzzles. None too difficult, but getting through them with out being hit by a ghost in normal form or not getting blown up. By either a box of TNT, Nitro, or a walking stick of Dynamite. Is something you have to learn to adjust too. Then there is the collecting element. This game wants you to collect as many pellets and fruits possible. When you collect all on each level you gain a star. you also get one for defeating the level the 1st time around and a time trial mode. These stars in turn opens up later levels in the game. As for bosses that is only one and that is MESMERELDA. Who appears twice in the game, the first time defeating her gains you a key which opens some areas, you could not gain access to earlier in the game. Her final appearance is as the final boss in the game and that only gives you the final FMV in the game, and the ending credits.

So should you try this game? Once again if you breeze through any game this one isn't for you. But if you like to fun games, with a unique challenge and also if your a fan of the Pacman series of games. I say give this one a try.

Installation:

The addons are like normal games and thus they have to be started from the XMB. They've been patched to work on all CFWs.

English Instructions (DLC1):

Press Start Button to access the menu.

Main Menu options:
1) Install ---->
1.1) Music Data (Select which song mp3 you want to copy to your memory stick or choose the bottom option to copy them all. If they already exist, you'll be asked if you want to overwrite. O for yes, X for cancel.)
1.2) Edit Data (Select edit data for each song you want to play with in the main game and save them into separate files. Each has to be saved separately so there's no selecting all of them at the bottom. You can make multiple saves of the same edit data if you want to mod any of them yourself.)
1.3) Custom Theme (Select this option to install the custom PSP theme to your PSP)
2) Minigame ---> Start the minigame
3) PV Player ----> Start the high polygon PV player.

About the minigame:

You'll be prompted to create a new savegame for the minigame. You'll start in a Shelter. Run to the mailbox in the middle of the room to receive some kind of instructions or story. Press Circle to access the Stage Menu and select which stage you want to enter with the circle button.

Controls:
Triangle - Inventory Menu - select your active item
Circle - Activate your active item
X - Jump - this game is a platformer after all XD
Square - Unknown so far...

Known active items:
Memory - Miku's headset - equip and activate this to go back to the shelter
Shapon Tama - Bubble blower - you pick this up when you enter stage one - shoots a bubble that temporarily freezes enemies.
Flower Pot - you can water this but it's effect is unknown.
Pickaxe - lets you break open certain dark blocks to pick up notes.
Umbrella - shows up in Stage 2. Use it to protect you from deadly raindrops but it slows down your movement and fall rate.
There's also a medicine bottle that will restore one heart back.

Getting hit by enemies and dropping into water obstacles lowers your health. Once your health depletes completely, you'll return to the shelter and get some kind of warning letter. Not sure how many times you can "die" in the game.

Hope this helps.

To play the songs, once they are on the memory stick, it's simple:

1. Go into Edit mode
2. Press Play an Edit song
3. Select the save of the song you wanna play from your data
4. Find that song on your memory stick (Press R to move to the songs on your mem stick, be careful not too pick the wrong one)
5. Play away

(P.S. All of the Songs are in Hard mode)

No Nonsense Review: BUZZ! Master Quiz PSP

I don't know about you when I am on Facebook and want to play games. I generally play only quiz games. You know the kind that gives you a multiple choice, and when you're in the top 3 you go into a bonus round. Although there are some good ones on Facebook they tend to be the same old, same old. A good friend was complaining about that to me. That is what drew me to the Buzz Master Quiz demo I downloaded from PSN. It was enough of a mixture of multiple choice question, guess what this is a photo quiz and rapid-fire questions. It piqued my interest to find a used copy. I did last week and been playing it ever since.

Although it's a short game, I think the whole thing could be easily finished in under 2 hours. There is enough variation that makes this a good game to play when you haven't got time to play something for more than say 10 mins or so at any one time.

If you like quiz games....Get it.

No Nonsense Review: Ridge Racer Type 4 PS1

If your expecting a good review, you will be disappointed. I am one of the few who absolutely hated R4.

Don't get me wrong, graphically the game pushes the PS1 to it's limits, and the control is fantastic. But what got me it was a drift racer...and I hate drift racing.

My point is every Ridge Racer game up to then, wasn't a drift racer. Except for Rage Racer PS1 which is was an option. I only found out when I bought R4 that is was a drift racer. I maybe guilty of looking for it's faults...but they are there. Take the bonus cars you can earn in the game. The only place you can use them is in Time Trail mode, In all the other Ridge Racer games, you can actually race with them.

Then the car system itself, I don't think there is anyone who has it totally figured it out, as I seen more guides to it and pretty much all of them has a different explanation of how it is suppose to work.

Check out gamefaqs and see I am right.

In short Ridge Racer Type 4 is only for fans of drift racing.
