No Nonsense Review: SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 PSP

Games included are...

Art of Fighting
Baseball Stars 2
Burning Fight
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters
King of the Monsters
Last Resort
Magician Lord
Metal Slug
Neo Turf Masters
Samurai Shodown
Sengoku
Shock Troopers
Super Sidekicks 3: The Next Glory
The King of Fighters '94
Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy
World Heroes

Is it no wonder why the Neo Geo is still highly prized by collectors. The games are just damn fun. There is really not a bad title here, although Neo Turf Masters for a golf game is fair  at best. I have played better and easier to control golf games. My favs include Metal Slug, King of the Monsters and Last Resort. But the one I play the most is Top Hunter: Roddy and Cathy. It has it all, battling bad guys, interesting environments, with real good end level bosses. The final boss in this game is down right excellent. It's hard to argue with a real good game.

This is one you have to get.

No Nonsense Review: Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords

As strange as this sounds, it's quite true that it was the box art for this game that got my attention. When I picked up a copy of Puzzle Quest at a flea market this past weekend.

It says on the back "Experience a puzzle game like nothing you ever experienced before". That is quite true. This game which is basically the same as Candy Crush, also contains elements of a good RPG, which includes (I am not kidding) a great plot. It is really such a unique game, this one deserves a space on your shelf. Also it's one of those games, you should try at least once in your life, incredible game.

No Nonsense Review: Midway Arcade Treasures Extended Play PSP

Games included

720°
Arch Rivals
Championship Sprint
Cyberball 2072
Defender
Gauntlet
Joust

It really doesn't matter if you played these games in the arcade or just playing them for the very first time. All these games are except for Paperboy are downright fun. To me who started to get into gaming when these games 1st appeared in the arcade. I love most of them, they are the kind of game you can just pick up and play, and not even think twice about it.

No Nonsense Review: Pac World 3 PSP

I have been checking out videos on this game for years, and when I finally got it. Wow!! Ever play a game that is both good and bad at the same time. Pac World 3 is really a mixed game. You're doing the basics. IE working your way through the level,  gathering items as you go. Defeating enemies, you know the standard that has been around since the 1980s.  Then you throw in Pac Man type, fully 3D levels and this is the problem. You get a combo of super easy elements and extremely difficult ones at the same time. I am being honest here, more than once I had to refer back to YouTube videos in order to find the items in order to complete the levels. There is quite a bit about this game, that isn't obvious. Sometimes that is a good thing, but not in this case. In one level early in the game, you have to defeat a handful of enemies, in order to get an item in order to go on. The real problem is you can bypass these enemies, and get all the way to the checkpoint and get stuck. Mainly because you don't have that one item. Worse yet this happens time and time again, and sometimes those items are in crazy locations. Ones I am not joking, you actually need someone telling you exactly where they are to find them.

In short Pac World 3 is a good but also very frustrating game. Prepared have to use YouTube...more times than you could imagine, I also would say having it available when you play this game is a must.

No Nonsense Review: Pac Man 20th Ann PS1

The odd thing is after a few years I decided to play Pac Man 20th PS1 again. I almost even forgot why I had this game. It's really a fun platformer/treasure hunt kind of game. Platformer because that what it is. Now treasure hunt will take some explaining, in this game there is fruit hidden, okay really items you'll see if you ever played the original Pac Man, such as bananas, apples and etc. These are actually keys that opens doors, to either say a switch, a maze, or a bonus letter. In this case spell out PacMan you get a chance to play the bonus round for more points and extra lives. Which you will need in 2 levels, believe me these 2 levels are the hardest levels in the entire game, the hardest being Spin Dizzy, where you have to jump to moving platform to moving platform. No joke, the last time I played it, I swear it took 43 lives just to get through the level. But really the rest of the game is easy. There is a plot about this robot sorta pacman monster taking over Pacland. It really doesn't matter, he is a fairly easy boss to beat. I really recommend picking this one up, it can be found practically everywhere.

On the other hand I just managed to find Pac World 2 GBA, I bought it more as a curiosity. 2 words Total Crapfest. It has to be the worst GBA game I ever played.

No Nonsense Review: Pangya Fantasy Golf

Surprisingly when I went looking for Hot Shots Golf Open Tee 2, when I first heard of Pangya Fantasy Golf. Which an excellent game as well as a very unique one. First of all the courses  9 in fact, in free play you choose the number of holes anywhere from 3 to 18. You can also choose between front, back, even random. But the biggest element is a pseudo RPG mode, where you earn experience points which gain you a ranking. A shop where you can buy outfits, with money earned from playing.

I mentioned it was unique, the courses are a cross between mini golf and full fledged regulation golf course.

You have to see this gameplay video

Yes it plays good but I know it looks weird.

Did You Know? Converting PS1 Saves

One of the oddest facts I have discovered since I first bought my PSP that it's actually possible to convert your old PS1 and PS2  saves so they work on any Playstation including PS3 and PS4 and let's not forget the PSP. I don't know all the facts and I am hoping someone fills in the gaps before I buy a PS3. But it seems from all that I read, all you need is a Memory Card to USB adapter and a PS3. Which has a built in program that can convert the saves.

No Nonsense Review: Gran Turismo PSP

Gran Turismo PSP features 830 vehicle models from the world's top manufacturers ( with over 4,500 total paint variations), Plus there is a DLC that gives 5 more cars that aren't available from any of the dealers, with 35 tracks (70 total layouts), including famous world circuits, city courses and other environments. Featuring exciting gameplay and game modes to suit all levels of play. Players can progress and acquire cars in Challenge Mode throughout more than 100 events in, or they can explore different tracks and circuits in Arcade Mode. All running at 60 fps. Lets me tell you it is one of the best looking games on the PSP.

You can easily find Gran Turismo DLC at PSN...and it's FREE

With that said, is it a good game? Yes, if you like racing games. Controls are near perfect, graphics are incredible. Yes, even on the PSP. Even the original game on the Original Playstation is still one of the greats, even after all this time.

No Nonsense Review: Space Invaders Extreme PSP

I like to know what drug they were using when they created Space Invaders Extreme PSP. They took what was basically a very simple game and turned it in to a over the top monster.

Why over the top, take a look at this gameplay footage.

With all, it's extreme power-ups and bonus rounds. It's a very intense game. It's not easy by no means.

But it's really fun, check this one out.

No Nonsense Review: EA Replay PSP

Titles included in this game

B.O.B. 1993 Super NES
Budokan: The Martial Spirit 1990 Mega Drive/Genesis
Desert Strike: Return to the Gulf 1992 Mega Drive/Genesis
Haunting Starring Polterguy 1993 Mega Drive/Genesis
Jungle Strike 1993 Mega Drive/Genesis
Mutant League Football 1993 Mega Drive/Genesis
Road Rash 1991 Mega Drive/Genesis
Road Rash II 1992 Mega Drive/Genesis
Road Rash 3 1995 Mega Drive/Genesis
Syndicate 1995 Super NES
Ultima VII: The Black Gate 1994 Super NES
Virtual Pinball 1993 Mega Drive/Genesis
Wing Commander 1990 Super NES
Wing Commander: Secret Missions 1990 Super NES

I really wish I could say there is a lot of great titles in this game but there really isn't,  and I tried every single game. I will say Virtual Pinball are the worse, Pokemon Pinball Gameboy is a far better game. The rest I would say is a matter of taste,  B.O.B. is really fun, and of course the Road Rash games. I fully admit the rest are not my taste. Which is really important in games like this, you can come across games you either forgot about, or never played before and truly love that game. Others who knows.

No Nonsense Review: PQ Practical Intelligence Quotient PSP

Let me tell you something about PQ Practical Intelligence Quotient PSP there is not a good review anywhere to be found on this game. So why am I reviewing it, simple I got it cheap, and I like some puzzle games, so I was curious and bought it. I can see why the bad reviews, to what is a rather unique game. I think this game is made for those who fly through normal puzzle games. I know I have seen this myself, and yes like hardcore gamers who fly through games we normal folks have problems with. I seen this one guy literally fly through some insane puzzles.

PQ Practical Intelligence Quotient PSP is a good game, and most of the early puzzles, that's before Level 3 are fairly good and interesting, and do offer a unique challenge. IE moving your character through a 3D world blocked sometimes with patrols, weighted doors, and stair puzzle blocks. I did say it is unique.

So if your the kind of person who is really in to puzzle games, and you know who you are. I say get PQ Practical Intelligence Quotient PSP. For the rest of us, it only adds an interesting game to your collection.

No Nonsense Review: Final Fantasy Crisis Core PSP

Final Fantasy Crisis Core PSP. At first glance, it looks kinda neat. You see I am a fan of Final Fantasy 7, and I like revisiting the same places you see in that game. But once you really get into it. Probably is one of the worst games I ever played in my life. So how does it disappoint? When you have so much potential, expanding on the FF7 storyline. Only to turn the game into a grinder...for the most part. Let's say you visit a town, you can only go on 1 path as it really doesn't allow you to explore. Talk about a game being linear, you have more options in the old PS1 game Crash Bandicoot (and I am talking about the first one), than in Crisis Core. Then there is the only way to level up, as these little adventures do little to increase your experience points. You play battle sims. There is are 6 different ones in the entire game. Which you have to play over and over and over again. So many times? Try around 50, and yes it's as boring as it sounds. I will go and say Final Fantasy Legend on the Gameboy is a better game than Crisis Core.

No Nonsense Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 PSP

I fully admit I got Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 for less than $2, I think I spent $1.50 the game. But even at that price I felt ripped off. Why the game uses such an overcomplicated control scheme unless your use to using complicated controls. This game is impossible to play, and I am not just saying this as I could not get past the tutorial. No joke I have the manual, and it takes up 1 and 1/2 pages just to cover how the ball is controlled. I have a friend who has the Wii version and he can't get past the tutorial either.

Avoid this game at all costs!!!

Horrible, horrible, horrible overly complicated control scheme, and a tutorial that is impossible to follow, that I swear learning how to fly the Space Shuttle would be easier.
