No Nonsense Review: Harvest Moon: Back to Nature PS1

Ever play Farmville? The farming simulator? Harvest Moon: Back to Nature is that and more. Not only do you get add in an actual backstory. Plus more of an in-depth story. Actual neighbors, and a REAL town you can visit. Plus crops you can sell. Think of all the DLC they always try to sell you for real $$$$$ You get that and more all for the time it takes to download this title.

Really it hard to judge this game. I guess the only thing I can say is that if you like Farmville, you will like Harvest Moon.

Xperia Play

according to Wikipedia

The Xperia Play is a smartphone with elements of a handheld game console produced by Sony Ericsson. With the marketshare for dedicated handheld game consoles diminishing into the 2010s due to the rapid expansion of mobile phones with cheap downloadable games, Sony attempted to tackle the issue with two separate devices; a dedicated video game console with elements of a smartphone, called the PlayStation Vita, and a smartphone with elements of a handheld console, the Xperia Play. Originally rumored to be a "PlayStation Phone", the device shed the "PlayStation" branding in favor of the Xperia brand, running on the Android operating system.

No Nonsense Review: Wipeout Pulse and Pure PSP

I am combining these reviews because the only thing separating these games are the tracks and vehicles. They play exactly the same...which is fantastic, while the tracks are amazing. You got to play these if you love racing games, as they are both GREAT!!!!

No Nonsense Review: Gex 3 Deep Cover Gecko PS1

You want to talk about a game that is both very fun and very hard, but you still want to complete. Gex 3 is that and more, the levels are fantastic and will test your game playing skills no matter your level. Controls are perfect and there are enough hidden items you will be checking everywhere.

Now to why you want to complete this game. The answer is simple and it has to do with what kind of ending you get. As it turns out there are 3, and the best one is at 100% I fully admit I used a save cheat to see that fantastic ending. But believe me it was worth it, and I know this is hard to believe but working my way to the final boss was the easy part, that boss is quite a challenge and I was unsure if I would beat it.

No Nonsense Review: Hot Wheels Ultimate Race PSP

I know what I said previously about some racing games, but really this is the worse racing game of all time. Graphics look like they belong on the Sega Genesis. Yes, it's really that bad. Controls range from good to terrible during a race, I really don't understand why.  As far as the race itself think like your racing on a Hot Wheels track.

No Nonsense Review: Juiced Eliminator PSP

Without a doubt one of the worse racing games I ever played. Controls are horrible. Meanwhile, the graphics are so bad you can't believe this on the PSP. They could be more at home on Sega's 32X instead. In fact, there is only one racing game on the PSP with worse graphics that is Hot Wheels Ultimate Racing

No Nonsense Review: Contra: Legacy of War PS1

This is a Contra game?!!! It certainly doesn't feel like it, or play like one. This game is just bad.

No Nonsense Review: Disney / Pixar's Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue PS1

If you want a Toy Story game with REAL bosses, hardcore  action, with levels you really have to think your way through. I should know on my first couple of plays I missed the very 1st boss. Nothing in this game is second rate. I would even recommend this for people who are not fans of the film. The game offers a real challenge, while the levels...OMFG!!! They are great, they are far from going from start to finish like the later games. Good challenge for anyone of any skill level. In fact even with cheat codes I could not totally complete some levels. I just could not get to some items, although they weren't necessary to complete the levels, but as a personal challenge they are worth getting.

No Nonsense Review: Shaun White Snowboarding PSP

All I can say is you want a snowboarding game on the PSP this is one. Really nothing all that special. In fact, I will even go as far as to say SSX is a better game.

Leave this one where it is.

No Nonsense Review: MX vs. ATV Unleashed On The Edge PSP

Surprisingly a good game, with great graphics and nearly perfect controls. Which really does take some time to master. Really worth checking out.

No Nonsense Review: Frantix A Puzzle Adventure

A mindless puzzle game, great time killer though

No Nonsense Review: Darkstalkers Chronicle The Chaos Tower PSP

Great graphics, but an average fighter

Sampler Disc for PSP vol. 1

I collect demo discs and when I heard recently there was a demo disc for the PSP I knew I had to get one. But you know how it is between what you hope and what you actually get. Here I was imagining what demos were on that disc, even up to the time I finally placed it in my PSP and what I actually got were Game Trailers, Movie Trailers and Music Videos.

The Following is a list of what is on that disc:

GAME AKA Game Trailers

Wipeout Pure
Ape Escape
Word Tour Soccer
NBA
Twisted Metal Head On
Gretzky NHL
Hot Shots Golf Fore
ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails
Lumines
Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
Ridge Racer

MOVIE AKA Movie Trailers

Stealth
XXX: State of The Union
The Longest Yard
Lords of Dogtown
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo
Kung Fu Hustle
Are We There Yet?

MUSIC AKA Music Videos

Coheed and Cambria - "Blood Red Summer"
Crossfade - "Cold"
Kasabian - Club Foot
Omarion "O"
Petey Pablo - Vibrate
Silvertide - Ain't Comin' Home
Three Days Grace - Home
The Zutons - "Pressure Point"

On a personal note: Even though this disc is from 2005 I never heard of any of the musical acts that appear on this disc. Which I say speaks for their staying power.

No Nonsense Review: Taito Legends Power Up PSP

Usually, I say about retro game collections are usually more for retro game fans. But not this one, and for the sole reason are the remixes. Bringing those games to the 21st century makes everyone is a delight to play.

Even you nonretro fans should check this out.

No Nonsense Review: ModNation Racers PSP

I almost forgot I had this game until I played the demo. I am happy to say the full version is far better than the demo, you actually have 2 options here. Play it like a Mario Kart Clone or a full race. But you can mod tracks, and cars as well. Although it may not be the greatest at any one game, it is really not a bad and well worth trying out.

In fact, the only downside to this is that the DLC is no longer available. It only featured some really cool tracks one even featured Jak and Daxter. Will let you know if I find anything.

Game Demos Part 2

More PSN PSP Demos

Ape Academy 2

fairly good mini game

Army of Two

A really rather interesting game, a combo of your standard rescue game and those army battle games. Fairly fun, and intense action.

Flatout Head On

Really a wanna be Twisted Metal clone. It really suffers from bad controls, otherwise a fair game.

Full Auto 2 Battleline

Take a game as intense as any from the Burnout series plus throw in a Twisted Metal element and you got a fun game.

Half Minute Hero

A really unique game where you do the standard action game in as little time as possible. Great for those who do speed runs.

Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier

I really hope the full version is better, to what little you get it plays like a collectathon. Fair at best.

Lego Batman

If you played any of the Lego games you know what you can expect.

ModNation Racers

It is as not as good Mario Kart clone, controls are okay. It has an annoying announcer

No Heroes Allowed

WTF!!! Everyone and everything is trapped below ground and it's your job to break through the blocks and rescue them. I hated this one.

Patchwork Heroes

It maybe a simple 2D game where you combo rescue and destroy what is about to destroy your town. But I found it both a good challenge and Hell really fun.

Race Driver 3 TOCA Challenge

Even though it's a good looking game, it suffers from bad controls it's like steering though peanut butter

Ridge Racer 2

Really excellent DRIFT racer

Secret Agent Clank

Excellent demo, a direct borrow from the full game. It shows you what kind of game you can expect.

TNT Racer

Bad Graphics + unresponsive controls = One bad game

Playstation PSP kiosk demo unit

Yet another unique collectable for PSP fans

No Nonsense Review: Every Extend Extra PSP

Okay, I fully admit I just don't understand this game. Maybe that is the best way to review this game is to look at a video. If you can figure it out, get it. Haven't a clue about it like me avoid, avoid, avoid.

Game Demos Part 1

I have always been a fan of game demos, the reason why is simple. It allows you to check out a game without really buying it, or today downloading a copy.

The following is a list of PSP Game Demos that I originally downloaded from PSN and what I think of each game. Mine you these opinions are solely based upon the demo and not the full finished version of the game...which will be reviewed later if they already hadn't been.

Buzz
Quiz game and I thought it was quite fun

Echochrome
A really weird type of puzzle game, made no sense to me

Hoard
Yet another strategy game, except you main character is a fire breathing dragon. Interesting yet fun.

Loco Roco Midnight Carnival
One of those types of games you got to get a character from start to finish. Really fun, and quite unique

Motor Storm Arctic Edge
An absolutely incredible racing game, great vehicles, incredible tracks.

Patapon
One of those games you have to listen to clue so you can tap out a beat for the characters to follow. Not one of my favorite types of games.

Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe
A unique mixture of both action and strategy, I find the gameplay interesting. I have to see what the full version is like before I give final judgement on this game.

Undead Knights
Surprising good game, lots of blood, and good controls. I found it got a bit repetitive having to kill the same enemies over and over as they respawned.

Worms Battle Island
This one I really didn't like, combine moving your characters, while getting bombed. Not fun

No Nonsense Review: Chicken Run PS1

A wanna be Metal Gear Solid clone, with the original being a far superior game. As far as this one goes it sucks.

Monday, April 10, 2017

No Nonsense Review: Q Bert PS1

Takes the classic arcade and expands it on the original Playstation as you explore this world and the more areas you clear, the more it opens up for up. The gameplay is brilliant, but I would say it is more for fans of the original arcade game.

Playstation PSP kiosk demo unit storage shelves

PSP collectables are more than just games and the PSP itself

No Nonsense Review: Klona The Road to Phantomile PS1

Does the word "Incredible" mean anything to you. This 2.5D game is that and more. Really I don't need to say any more than to show you a video of the gameplay.

No Nonsense Review: Secret Agent Clank

2 simple words, amazing game. Controls are spot on in this stealth/action game. With strong visuals and a great plot. Can't-miss.

Why No Nonsense Reviews

No nonsense reviews came about simply because I needed some source that literally tells me if a game or good or not.

This was after reading A 3 page review on a game that never said if a game was good or not. In fact the game Beowulf, which turned out to suck.

It was after that experience I decided that the reviews had to be one paragraph or less.

No Nonsense Review: ATV Offroad fury Pro PSP

Without a doubt the best ATV racer I ever played in my entire life.

Rei Cho Aniki one of the Strangest PSP Games of all Times

Even from preparing to do this post I think I came across the strangest game series of all time. For example check out the gameplay footage from Cho Aniki Zero

If that isn't weird enough for you try Rei Cho Aniki

and it's screen shots

Those are real folks they are taken from an article about the game on Silicionera which gets into detail which I swear if I posted this you would think I faked the entire thing. Check it out

No Nonsense Review: South Park (Video Game) PS1

I actually once owned this game, and use to enjoy playing it. But that was before time went on and I saw better and better games. Good game to some degree with the later levels far better than the early ones...but extremely dated. Nostalgia Factor Only.
