No Nonsense Review: Tomba PS1

I only played a couple of demos before playing Tomba, and really I didn't know what to make of it. In short it's a collection/action game which focuses on action. Which really isn't a bad thing, but what is the fluctuation in difficulty. It can literally go from super easy to almost impossible depending on what part of the game your in. Take the level just before the 1st boss. The wind is blowing hard, there are plants to eat you, and if they catch you will send you back to the beginning. Not to mention you have to land and jump off platforms that is barely big enough for your character to stand upon. After dying about 25 times I gave up.

Try this one if you wish, but I swear it will make you scream.

No Nonsense Review: Tomba 2 PS1

I have been playing Tomba 2 for a while and found such a unique game. Tomba 1 & 2 are both collection / action games. But 1 clearly focused on action. While 2 focused more on collection in the form of mini missions, there are over 140. How many you complete effects which one of the multiple endings you get. It is not like any of them are boring. I have found they are just plain fun and I can't wait to see what the next one is.

This one is a must play. Whether it is a legal copy or not. Give Tomba 2 a try.

No Nonsense Review: Namco Museum #5

Metro-Cross (1985)
Baraduke (1985)
Dragon Spirit (1987)
Pac-Mania (1987)
Valkyrie no Densetsu (1989) - renamed The Legend of Valkyrie

I admit none really stand out, although you do have some unique games.

No Nonsense Review: Valkyrie Profile PSP

In all honesty I have never played a game like this in my entire life. You see the heart of Valkyrie Profile is one of the most deepest plots I ever seen along with extremely well thought out characters. I know it sounds like a good book, but actually it's a 2.5D RPG. To the actual gameplay, could not be any simpler just press a button.

This one and I can't believe I am saying this should be tried out first before actually playing the game. It's system of battles is although basically simple, but it is so different it's really hard to describe. Besides I haven't quite figured out how do you use items, like health and attack while in battle. I have been playing RPGs for over 20 years, and never seen anything like this before.

Lastly my biggest complaint in the game, it no joke it takes 45 mins from the time you start a new game until you get full control of your character. Even then you wind up in a dungeon.

Really if your looking for a totally unique game give this one a try.

No Nonsense Review: Beowulf The Game PSP

Beowulf misses the mark on so many points, really with a little tweaking it could be a really be a good game. Let's start at the very beginning of the game, it literally takes 2 full minutes to find any enemy to attack. While the attacks themselves sometimes feel like you taking down a mighty oak with a wet noodle. Really I have never played a game until now where it takes more than 50 hits to defeat the very first enemy you see, The attacks regular or heavy really makes no difference, like I said tweaking would help.

Although I won't say it's a horrible game, just a sub-par one. Get this game only as a free download, or if you find it CHEAP if you're collecting UMDs.

No Nonsence Review: Dante's Inferno PSP

Dante's Inferno turned out to be a surprise for me. Incredible graphics, and gameplay not unlike of God of War. This game puts you in the action seconds after the game begins. You are looking for tons of action in a game look no further. In fact, the only criticism I have is just minor, and that comes from artifacts, glitches in graphics. Which really shouldn't be surprising due to the limits of the PSP. This game is really worth checking out.

No Nonsense Review: Me & My Katamari PSP

Ever come across a game that is exactly what you expected...Me & My Katamari PSP did that to me. Basically, it's a Katamari for the PSP, it's basic gameplay is exactly the same as other versions, and your goals are the same. It all comes down to do you want to try this game.

No Nonsense Review: Namco Museum #4

Pac-Land (1984) - based on the Japanese version in all regions
The Return of Ishtar (1986) - the sequel to The Tower of Druaga
Genpei Tōma Den (1986) - renamed Genji and the Heike Clans
Assault (1988)
Assault Plus (1988) -  a hidden game.
Ordyne (1988)

The 2 best are Assault and it's sequel as one of the best tank shooters I have ever played. Ordyne is a very fun side scrolling shooter.

No Nonsense Review: Namco Museum #3

Galaxian (1979)
Ms. Pac-Man (1982) - the Pac-Man sequel
Dig Dug (1982)
Phozon (1983)
Pole Position II (1983)
The Tower of Druaga (1984) - including Another Tower and Darkness Tower

I do suggest you try Phozon as it's the most unique game in this collection. The others are your standard retro fare

No Nonsense Review: Namco Museum #2

Bomb Bee (1979) - a hidden game; only in the Japanese version
Cutie Q (1979) - although only playable in the Japanese version, its code can be found on the American release.
Super Pac-Man (1982) - not in the Japanese version
Xevious (1982)
Mappy (1983)
Gaplus (1984) - the Galaga sequel
Grobda (1984) - a Xevious "spinoff"
Dragon Buster (1985)

Anyway I think Mappy is the most fun, in this retro collection, while Xevious is the most challenging.

No Nonsense Review: Flatout Head On PSP

If anyone has been checking out this blog they know my feeling about drift racing. Flatout Head On is a drift racer alright, but it is also a demolition derby kind of game. Which really makes no sense to me. When you play this type of game "Twisted Metal" is a good example, you need tight controls so you don't get destroyed. This one takes that model and throws it out the window.

Strictly for Drift Racing Fans ONLY

A Tale of 2 Emulators

I been thinking since I have that much space to spare on my memory stick I try some systems I haven't tried before like the Atari Lynx. Found a great PSP Emulator it's called 'Plynx'. Works perfectly after I had my minor issue with the Bios. It said to place the BIOS right next to the Eboot file, It never said unzip it first and place the img file next to the Eboot

The other is the Atari 2600, talk about real old school. I have a friend who raves about that ancient console all of the time. So I figured why not, had a bit of an issue with the emulator. No it wasn't Bios as it seems the Atari 2600 hasn't got any. It was in finding an emulator that works. One site recommended 'PSP 2600'. I use 'PSP 7800' for my Atari 7800 games and thought I give it a try. It worked instantly. Now all I need to do is figure out what to install on it.

No Nonsense Review: Namco Museum # 1 PS1

Once again we are faced with the question, Do I like Retro games? In fact I do and each one in the Namco Museum series is so unique.

Pac-Man (1980)
Rally-X (1980)
New Rally-X (1981)
Galaga (1981)
Bosconian (1981)
Pole Position (1982)
Toy Pop (1986)

I really recommend Toy Pop as it is as close as you can come to most of those smart phone and tablet games you find.

No Nonsense Review: Hot Shots Golf PS1

Like all Hot Shots Golf games you use the X button to control your club and try to get enough power in as few strokes as possible to win the course. But really if stuffers from a rather unique problem it's hard to get enough power. It's hard to fault what the problem is, and the game is playable as well as any golf game. But be warned it suffers from that issue. It is a good game otherwise.

Update

Very first thing is I want to apologize to everyone who tried and failed to get ISO/CSO files to be read by the Custom Firmware I recommend 6.61 Pro-C it seems you can't play those files using that custom firmware.

I just finished installing a Neo Geo emulator on my PSP, as one site suggested it's more a matter of trial and error to see where you have to place the bios.

If you're a Retro Game Fan You Will Love this

I have made it no secret that I love retro games, I am having a great time playing Wolfenstein 3D on my modded PSP. I am even trying to figure out how to put the full version of that game in the emulator. But then I came across this LINK it seems racketboy dot com has created a list of retro collections on the PSP. Many of which are not so easy to find especially the ones from Japan. I am posting this list so you retro fans know what is out there and to tell you you can easily find versions to play on a modded PSP.

No Nonsense Review: The Simpsons Game PSP

Yet another game where fans of the series will get the humor and the logic to this game. It's a good game, but far too many items are hidden, and I really recommend watching a play through video before even touching a level. Reason being on my 1st playthrough I went up the wrong path and totally got stuck. Weird but good game overall.

No Nonsense Review: Family Guy Game PSP

Although there is nothing wrong with this game, it should carry a label for Family Guy fans only. For only it's fans will get the humor in this game which can be challenging at times. The level layout to me makes no sense what so ever. It wouldn't make sense in a comic, or as an episode, but it makes sense in a game. Overall not a horrible game, but if you're not a fan. Don't.

Just because it's Modded...

I have been checking out a couple emulators to see if they work. First up was MVSPSP 2.3.2 even after finding the Neo Geo emulator I had issues like how to install, and why were there 3 Eboot files. But even after I had that figured out, it didn't work. The same with MAME4ALL calling itself a MAME emulator for the PSP preloaded with 82 games. I will keep on trying and let you know the results.

No Nonsense Review: Disney' Aladdin - Nasira's Revenge PS1

You would think a 32 bit game would be better than a 16 bit game. Not in this case Disney' Aladdin - Nasira's Revenge PS1 is really a sub par game. I own a copy of Aladdin on the Genesis/ Mega Drive and that game is much more fun than this collection/ puzzle game. I know the 16 bit version is Hard, and I do admit to use a cheat device to play it. But Disney' Aladdin - Nasira's Revenge is boring and really just a time killer if your bored enough.

Stay Away, you will thank me later

No Nonsense Review: Michael Jackson The Exerience PSP

Is truly a different sort of game, when I picked up a copy I was totally unsure what kind of game I was getting. One I will say it totally different, think DDR where you press buttons and try to keep up of what is happening on screen. But only to Michael Jackson songs. I think it's good enough for a couple of plays but beyond that, it really depends if you like that kind of game...or not.

No Nonsense Review: Rage Racer PS1

This is without a doubt one of the finest racing games ever made. If you're into tight controls like me, or even into drift racing you have that option. The same with customizing the cars, hell if you want to make it purple and black you really that that option.

But I think one of the best options is one some might find tedious. Winning money to buy new cars, all the cars are fantastic some are the best I ever seen or controlled in any racing game period.
Why couldn't even NAMCO learned from this fantastic game, by producing a lot of sub par racing games after this is totally beyond me.

No Nonsense Review: Tail Concerto PS1

I been wanting this game for sometime, but now to discover Tail Concerto is priced between $81 and $110 this one game is more a download than anything else.

Why do I say this Tail Concerto is one of the most utterly delightful game I ever played. Oh sure gameplay is simple and some might breeze through. But they be missing a unique story and very unique gameplay. You against the Black Cat Gang, I really felt like a kid as I played this.

It is really worth a play at least 1 time, to see if you like it. I would guess that you would. Thumbs Up

PSP Modding Weird Facts

Recently I been talking to other modders who know more than me and I found out a couple of facts.

If you use the Micro SD card to Memory Stick adapter it seems there really is no limit. But understand like any older CPU the bigger the folder the long it takes. I use 16 GB Micro SD cards in such an adapter and I get roughly 29 GB of usable space. It's been tested all the way up to 2 64 GB Micro SD cards and naturally you don't get exactly 128 GB after formatting. But you do get over 100 GB of space.

Another fact I have a couple of games I downloaded legally from the Playstation Store and I thought I see if they would play on a Modded PSP. As it turns out no they won't. Not even if you place the LICENSE folder in the PSP folder.

Cave Story PSP version

Cave Story is a very unusual game starting out it's life as a 2D freeware game before winding up as a 3D game on the 3DS. You might of even seen the game on Nintendo's eShop and had no idea there was a PSP version. I just want to make it very clear what's on the PSP is an adaptation of the 2D version and not the 3D one.

I really could get in to plot and storyline but that isn't my way. But if your curious check out the article on Wikipedia

Now with that out of the way, lets get into the game itself. For that we turn to YouTube.

This is of the 2D version

Yes I am aware it's also a review of the game, but your also getting a fair review as I have not played the game.

For the record the 3D version

I had to post that so you could see the difference

Now if you like what you see head on over to the Official Site and get the download link. As for the 3D version you can get it from Nintendo's Eshop for $9.95 or a physical copy around $40. I am not sure what the 2D version cost from Nintendo.

No Nonsense Review: Moto GP

In my effort to find the perfect PSP racing game. I had to go through a lot of crap, and Moto GP is a huge pile. Motorcycles at the start of the game suck. In fact, I had to use a save cheat just to find a motorcycle that matched my skill level.

Total Crapfest

No Nonsense Review: Burnout Dominator and Legends PSP

Since there is almost no difference between Dominator and Legends the same could be said about both games.

I have been a big fan of racing games ever since the days of the original PlayStation. Ever since I first bought my PSP back in 2012, I have checked out more than my share...but still couldn't find one. Until the other day, I was down at a local classic game shop and saw Burnout Legends.

Which turned out to be an incredible game, with intense action. My first experience with the highly praised Burnout series. I can see why that is, graphics are gorgeous. The best I ever have seen on the PSP. Zero with slow down, despite all that, is happening on the screen. Controls are spot on, although a bit of a learning curve. Namely driving through traffic at high speed. Although load times are about average, once a track loads that is it. Music and sound effects are great.

If you love racing games as much as I do, pick up Burnout Legends.

DOS Games on the PSP

As hard as it might be believed someone actually figured out how to play actual DOS games on the PSP.

Now for the important part you have to go to there site for complete instructions HERE

No Nonsense Review: Eyepet PSP

A friend gave me this piece of shit before I got my PSP camera. Even I thought it would be a perfect game when I eventually got my camera. What could be wrong with a virtual pet game? I can't even come up with anything they did right.

My score -1000

Oh in case your looking for what the camera has to focus on here it is

No Nonsense Review: Ben 10 Alien Force PSP

Bland, bland, bland nearly every level looks the same. Action if you can call it is more of the same old, same old.

Installing Scummvu

What Is ScummVM?

ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!

ScummVM supports many adventure games, including LucasArts SCUMM games (such as Monkey Island 1-3, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, ...), many of Sierra's AGI and SCI games (such as King's Quest 1-6, Space Quest 1-5, ...), Discworld 1 and 2, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2,Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, Broken Sword 1 and 2, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Gobliiins 1-3, The Legend of Kyrandia 1-3, many of Humongous Entertainment's children's SCUMM games (including Freddi Fish and Putt Putt games) and many more.

You can find a full list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often. Among the systems on which you can play those games are Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Dreamcast, PocketPC, PalmOS, AmigaOS, BeOS, OS/2, PSP, PS2, SymbianOS and many more...

You can download Scummvm here pick the one for the PSP as there are many versions currently available.

Although it is possible to download games from ROM sites, Scummvm has several freeware games available for download HERE

Now to install Scummvm and how to use it. I had to check a bunch of sites as many had conflicting information due to the various versions of Scummvm and Custom firmware. I can confirm what is said in the video below works and that is how installed it.

No Nonsense Review: Alien vs. Preditor Requim PSP

From the reviews I seen of this Alien vs. Predator game, not everyone has given this game that good review. Count this as one of them. Keep in mind I am not that big of a fan of FPS, in fact, because of Alien vs. Predator Requiem I am even less of one. When the game screen loaded I thought something was wrong with my PSP, as I was literally looking at a black screen...until some text finally showed up. This game is dark, not in mood but lighting. I swear I have better lighting in my place with the lights turned off than the lighting in this game. It's hard to see anything. Let alone an enemy that is about to jump out at you.

It is really hard to give a game a fair review when you just can't see anything. Worse yet there is no way of adjusting it. I would just avoid this game as it really isn't even worth a download for free. Unless you want to keep on attacking when something isn't there.

Good Luck, and you will need it with this game.

PSP Homebrew: Supertux

Supertux is basically a Super Marion clone, with simple graphics but fun gameplay. Although the game is fairly easy it can be beaten in a couple of hours, by anyone. I always found the game quite fun and the reason it's mentioned here is that there is a version out for the PSP.

Since some of you might not be familiar with the title I posted a video of the gameplay, please note the gameplay is greatly speeded up.

If you like what you see the PSP version is available HERE

Update

I thought I give you all a little update on what is happening. First up of the 21 PS1 games I tried in my newly modded PSP so far only 4 hasn't worked. But speaking of PS1 you will be seeing more reviews of them, and some are really worth a download, if you get my meaning.

No Nonsense Review: Sonic Rivals PSP

The World's Most Boring Sonic Game, real snooze fest.

No Nonsense Review: Bubble Bobble Evolution PSP

Although any retro gamer will tell you that the original Bubble Bobble games are fun to play for hours. On the other hand Bubble Bobble Evolution PSP is terrible, one of the worse games to ever appear on the PSP. What made these programmers think of changing the simple gameplay of the original would be a great idea. Into a ridiculous 3 part level, which is now more a puzzle action game with lousy controls. Where certain tasks have to be completed so you battle a boss and move on to the next level. So how bad are the controls, swimming through honey would be faster. The game never does what you want, I played games on the Atari 7800 with better controls. Even if they were improved the reaction times like that on any PSP game. I don't think it would help.

Foot Surgery would be more fun than this horrible title.

How to Play Games ISO / CSO on PSP

Step 1 – Install Custom Firmware on PSP

Step 2 – Download PSP Games (ISO/CSO)

Once you’ve installed the custom firmware on your PSP now download your desired PSP Game (ISO/CSO). Google is your best friend. If the downloaded PSP game is a compressed .zip or.rar file then make sure to extract iso/cso using WinRAR.
Step 3 – Copy ISO / CSO on PSP
Connect your PSP to your computer via data cable. On your PSP, go to Settings > USB Connection.
Your PSP memory stick will appear as a removable device on your computer.
Open the memory stick and go to ISO folder. If there’s no ISO named folder then create one and make sure you name it in Caps (ISO not iso).
Now copy the downloaded PSP Game ISO / CSO file into ISO folder.
Disconnect your PSP from your computer.
Step 4 – Configurations
Turn your PSP completely OFF by holding down the power button for 7 seconds.
Hold down the R button and turn your PSP ON to boot into Recovery Mode.
Go to Configuration and make the following changes:
Game folder homebrew (currently: 5.xx Kernel)
UMD Mode (Currently: M33 driver -NO UMD-)
Go back to Main Menu then Advance > Advance Configuration.
Enable Plain modules in UMD/ISO
Disable “Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO”
Go back to main menu and select Exit. Your PSP will Reboot and turn back ON.
Step 5 – Play the Game on PSP

From the PSP home Menu, go to:

Game > Memory Stick

and play your desired PSP game (ISO/CSO) on Custom firmware.

Have fun!

How to Mod your PSP part 3

I swear this modding my PSP adventure has been an interesting one. As talked about in part 2 installing custom firmware is rather easy. What hasn't been is converting PS1 games so they run on the PSP. I hope none of you used popstation as I previously recommended, as there has been nothing but virus warnings when it comes to that program. The Ashens virus is mentioned often.

So how do you really convert ps1 bin, iso, or image files so that they run on the PSP. The real program is called "Ice Tea" and can be found here on Sourceforce but even then there is a trick to this program. Once you load up the bin file it will give the game's ID number. You know the number that appears on Sony's game. Be sure you write this down. Now make the eboot.pbp. But before you play it on the PSP you need to place the eboot into a folder with that number on it. Then you can place it in the GAME folder on the psp and it will work.

I hope you find this helpful, now since I have a modded PSP model 1000 I will be trying the apps out and see what works...but more on that later.

No Nonsense Review: Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep PSP

I know Kingdom Hearts has a lot of fans, some are more HARDCORE than Final Fantasy players. But  Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep PSP is literally one of the most disappointing RPGs I ever played. Don't get me wrong it really isn't isn't a bad game...just boring in spots.

I fully admit I never completed the game, frankly, I had little interest in doing so. Because I saw the same thing over and over again, and that is you're about to fight or even have beaten an enemy it looks like something is going to happen....and it doesn't. Just a new area opens up, but only after you leave.

Look I don't see the point of opening a new area, where nothing happens. Yes, I was using a walkthrough, turns out I had to as I was landing on the wrong planet.

The opening of the game is fantastic working your way up to the training center, fighting enemies. Then you pick a character and then it turns crappy. I thought Crisis Core was linear, Birth By Sleep pounds that into your head with every step.

So Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is the kind of game you play if you have trouble sleeping. I guarantee you will fall asleep if you play it.

No Nonsense Review: Platypus PSP

As soon as I got this game I knew I had to review it just for the title alone and I had to include a gameplay video because of the title.

So how is the game, intense but fun? If you like what you see BUY THIS GAME!!!

No Nonsense Review: UP PSP

Up is a fantastic movie, one I love to watch again and again. But the game...is really harder than it has to be. The game plays like a series of never ending obstacles courses. Challenges met, challenges defeated. But really even if you have the manual to this game. It's more trial and error figuring out what commands do what. As it constantly changes depending on the task you must complete.

Then take this one level, where one of your characters (as you always play as a team), falls down a cliff. There is only 1 path to get them UP, and the game knows it's trial and error to get them up. Really you're going to do this very early in the game?!! Makes no sense, I watched the video and I couldn't do it. I tried at least 6 times and part way up only to fall down again. Worse yet the pattern changes randomly when it takes more than 4 times. I nearly tossed my PSP as I was so frustrated.

How to Mod Your PSP Part 1

Recently I bought myself a 2nd PSP a model 1000 with a broken screen for just $15. Yesterday I picked it up from the repair shop where they replaced the screen. To my delight there seems to be no issues. So I decided to mod it.

Did you know modding was complicated? It really isn't download the softmod and install it and your done. It seems the more and more I looked into it the more I was beginning to wonder was it all worth it. But I decided to go ahead this morning, one of the reason this will be in multiple parts.

Step 1

Update the firmware I rather use the official site than anything anyone had saved anywhere.

Playstation PSP Firmware Official

There was a step 2 here but as it turned out it was totally wrong

No Nonsense Review: Wall-E PSP

I will fully admit Wall-E is one of my favorite films, I have seen the film countless times and ready to see it again and again. But not the game...

Okay, I understand gaming companies having to adapt a film so it can be made into a game.

BUT...what they did with Wall-E, in my opinion, is ridiculous. It is mainly a collection game, but then placing those items in next to impossible locations. Some I fully admit I can not get to. Makes the game extremely frustrating, even more so in later levels. Where you have to complete a series of tasks. I really mean it when I say you have to watch YouTube figure out what to do. Because the game never tells you what you have to do, let alone in what order.

You want a movie tie game for your collection, fine get it. But to play it...you must love torture.

No Nonsense Review: Ratatouille PSP

Ever come across a game and you have no idea what the programmers were even thinking. I am that way with Ratatouille PSP. Don't get me wrong the film is great, one I watch over and over again. But the game? Makes no sense to me, essentially it is a collecting and task game, with levels just barely reminding you of sorta this and sorta that in the film. There isn't a single level in this game that is a copy of anything featured in the film. Save one it's supposed to be set in Paris. It isn't so much that the levels are all that hard, I would agree none of what I played was ever impossible, but a lot of the game really made no sense to me at all. Take this one level where it's supposed to be the kitchen. You get flames shooting out from the side of the walls, and bottomless pits you have to jump over. It doesn't sound like any kitchen I have ever seen. In fact, none of the levels makes sense, like why do you have to drape this cord in a specific pattern. It is beyond me. Ratatouille the game is a total mess.

The plot is suppose to be where a rat eventually has his own restaurant right?

No Nonsense Review: G-Force PSP

I never seen the film and frankly I wasn't interested in this hamster spy movie. But as a game, you know it is pretty damn good. Think Metal Gear, and Syphon Filter combined with the problems that your character is only inches high. It not only presents a really interesting game, but some very unique ways of getting through the levels.

I will go on the record as saying spy games really hold no interest for me....but G-Force is the exception. It keeps the levels interesting, and it rarely repeats itself.

No Nonsense Review: Daxter PSP

One of the original launch titles, Daxter overall is a really fine game with tons of challenges for everyone. Nothing wrong with this game period. No wonder it sold as well as it did. 10/10
But 1 thing I have to say if you're an average gamer like me, you might struggle with the game as it might be a bit too difficult sorta on the same level as Ratchet and Clank Size Matters difficulty wise. Otherwise a very enjoyable game in fact worth buying.

I can say that despite not being able to beat the 1st level boss.

No Nonsense Review: Metal Slug XX

If you're a fan of the Metal Slug games this one is a must buy. It is literally filled with the same over the top battles Metal Slug games are known for. In fact, the best looking Metal Slug game period, as all the same level of action is included as in previous titles. Although plagued with loading screens, this game will not disappoint you. No matter your skill level, like previous Metal Slug games you can adjust things like difficulty, auto fire and the like.

What might disappoint is the DLC, which is a playable character. Although I never downloaded it. Ones who have to tell me it's the weakest character in the entire game. Even if you breeze through Metal Slug games you will die, die, die. The DLC is best to be avoided at all costs.

But not this game, replay value is extremely high.

I just discovered this game has hidden paths, and they are damn fun.

No Nonsense Review: Sega Rally REVO PSP

In short a nothing special. A drift racing game, whose cars and tracks are all the same.

No Nonsense Review: Frogger Helmet Chaos PSP

Okay, I admit it, it is very typical of any of any modern Frogger game, collect coins and defeat an enemy. But to me I love the opening scene, it's funny. The game isn't that bad, I think it is worth a try. Although it starts out very easy, by the time you get to the 2nd level you will be wondering how am I going to through this level. A real challenge for any gamer.

No Nonsense Review: Spongebob Squarepants on the PSP

The only 2 Spongebob Squarepants on the PSP

The Yellow Avenger
Spongebob's Truth of Square

These are the 2 worst games that ever appeared on the PSP. Frankly I rather go through root canal than play either of these games again. Reasons are many, objects in nearly impossible places, enemies that literally come out of nowhere. Navigation, you will get lost more than once, and don't get me started about the logic behind some of the puzzles. The nutty logic they used for the Discworld games make more sense. In a word Horrible, avoid, avoid, avoid

No Nonsense Review: Ratchet and Clank Size Matters PSP

Ever see a game so incredible that all you want to say is WOW. Graphics, sound, level design, without a doubt a solid 10 out of 10.

But 1 thing I have to say if you're an average gamer like me, you might struggle with this game as it might be a bit too difficult sorta on the same level as Daxter difficulty wise. Otherwise a very enjoyable game, in fact, worth buying.

No Nonsense Review: Crash of the Titans PSP

I knew very little about Crash of the Titans except from what I saw in YouTube videos when they talked about the Crash Bandicoot series. There wasn't a single one of those videos that tell you... That for 'Brawler'...this is a GREAT game. Yes I am saying  Crash of the Titans PSP is a damn good game. Great if you compare it to any of the Spongebob games on the PSP. Where everyone is only good for scraping the mud off your shoes. Wait to you see that review.

Tons of hidden items, abilities to gain. Hell the levels are both challenging and fun. Not like some of the levels in the original Crash games on the PS1. None of these are next to impossible, at least what I played so far as I am still early in the game. But everything I see makes me want to continue.

If you even like brawlers and so far you still can find a good one for the PSP. You can stop looking you found one.

No Nonsense Review: Ape Escape on The Loose PSP

Another AVGN moment, think Ape Escape on the PSP. Beyond that it's really nothing special. If you like Ape Escape, and want a portable version you got it with this one.  Otherwise it's a fair game at best.

No Nonsense Review: Infected PSP

Why do I feel like the AVGN when I talk about this game. Basically, it's a zombie shooter...but with a time limit. Yes, I am not kidding you get a time limit

If you're brave enough check out this gameplay footage

I think it's a really bad game

Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Bustin' till the Break of Dawn! - The Completionist®

I know it's a bit different, I was planning on reviewing the game that also came out for the PSP. But since this video is way better than what I could do, I thought it better to post the video.

No Nonsense Review: Hot Pixel PSP

Has to be one of the most unique games I ever played. Really it's nothing more than a series of mini-games, which look for the most part could be home on the Atari 2600. With that said, Is it a fun game? HELL YES!!! Each game is downright fun, and unique at the very same time. Be sure you get the DLC, it adds 70 mini-games.

I think I need a video here to explain things

If you like what you see get this game!!!!

No Nonsense Review: Muppet Monster Adventure PS1

Okay I know what you're thinking that I had completely lost it with this game. But hear me out Muppet Monster Adventure is a really good game. Oh sure I would admit it is aimed at kids. But what makes this game great, you really have to think these levels out as your playing them, as not every item is easy to find, or even working your way through the levels are all that easy. As you have to transform into more than one character to even fully complete a level.

Although I will admit nearly all the bosses are easy, save for 1 or 2. But those levels aren't, you will find you have to retrace your steps over and over, not only to collect everything. But to get to the end.

The music is bad, and Pepe's voice the narrator for the game can get really annoying fast. I usually turn the sound off my TV and listen to my own music as I play it.

But despite all of it's issues I give it a 6.8 out of 10

No Nonsense Review: The Con PSP

Bad, baddest, worse, finally downright horrible. In this game where you try and pull a con during a bare knuckle brawl you're trying to fix. There is absolutely nothing good about this game, even the graphics are bad. They would look even grainy on the PS1 let alone the PSP. Avoid this one at all costs.

The original 2 disc monster on the PS1. I know it's fans are going to argue with me on this point. Although the game plays great, with lots of hidden items. Really I didn't know there were that many until I found a walkthrough. The game has a hard time trying to figure out how difficult it really should be. Oh sure you get a great story, multiple environments, stealth missions, some great end level bosses. But what annoyed me the most, was the cheap shots the game took at you. Really sometimes your just walking along, not seeing anyone and before you know it your dead. I got so annoyed with that I had to use a cheat device. Then there is this one boss, 1st one in the game all it does it take head shots. Really when it's back was turned.

You can tell what a mixed bag this game is, when the next to final boss battle is far better battle than the final boss itself. What do I exactly mean, in the next to last battle your fighting a very realist battle with whatever you both can pick up as the playing field is very level. In fact this is the best boss battle in the entire game, one I feel the game should of ended upon. On the other hand the final boss battle is and I am not joking. That boss is invincible, and it has unlimited shots. In fact the only way to beat, is have it walk in to the rear blades of a helicopter which sits at the center of the stage. I still say worse final boss battle ever!!! And how you beat it without a cheat device is beyond me.

No Nonsense Review: SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 PSP

Games included are...

Art of Fighting
Baseball Stars 2
Burning Fight
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters
King of the Monsters
Last Resort
Magician Lord
Metal Slug
Neo Turf Masters
Samurai Shodown
Sengoku
Shock Troopers
Super Sidekicks 3: The Next Glory
The King of Fighters '94
Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy
World Heroes

Is it no wonder why the Neo Geo is still highly prized by collectors. The games are just damn fun. There is really not a bad title here, although Neo Turf Masters for a golf game is fair  at best. I have played better and easier to control golf games. My favs include Metal Slug, King of the Monsters and Last Resort. But the one I play the most is Top Hunter: Roddy and Cathy. It has it all, battling bad guys, interesting environments, with real good end level bosses. The final boss in this game is down right excellent. It's hard to argue with a real good game.

This is one you have to get.

No Nonsense Review: Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords

As strange as this sounds, it's quite true that it was the box art for this game that got my attention. When I picked up a copy of Puzzle Quest at a flea market this past weekend.

It says on the back "Experience a puzzle game like nothing you ever experienced before". That is quite true. This game which is basically the same as Candy Crush, also contains elements of a good RPG, which includes (I am not kidding) a great plot. It is really such a unique game, this one deserves a space on your shelf. Also it's one of those games, you should try at least once in your life, incredible game.
